LAST week marked the beginning of construction at the future Inverleigh Active Youth Space.<\/p>\n
Member for Eureka, Michaela Settle, Member for Corangamite, Libby Coker, and Golden Plains Shire mayor, Cr Brett Cunningham were in attendance for the occasion.<\/p>\n
The project will transform the Yerram Yaluk Bun Play Space located in Inverleigh into an area for recreation and community.<\/p>\n
Facilities will include a skate park, bicycle pump track, social basketball courts, seating, shade, shelters and lighting.<\/p>\n
The aim is for the area to provide young people in Inverleigh with a place to get active and build a sense of community.<\/p>\n
“Our kids deserve the best equipment possible to play, learn and grow,” said Ms Settle.<\/p>\n
“The Inverleigh Active Youth Playspace will be an important space for Inverleigh kids when it’s completed.”<\/p>\n
The State Government has provided $1.48 million for the project from the growing suburbs fund, $700,000 is being funded by the Federal Government and the Golden Plains Shire is adding a further $150,000.<\/p>\n
“We are thrilled that this project is coming to life with the commencement of construction and look forward to delivering the play space for the young people of Inverleigh and surrounding towns,” Cr Cunningham said.<\/p>\n
