GREEN thumbs are being invited to take part in a series of sustainability and self-sufficiency workshops organised by Golden Plains Shire staff.<\/p>\n
The sessions, beginning at the end of April, are facilitated by horticulturist Craig Castree and bring together the knowledge learned through the edible gardens webinars.<\/p>\n
The aim of the workshops are to help participants elevate their gardening skills to the next level.<\/p>\n
The first session will be held Sunday 27 April in Dereel, there will be a session on Saturday 25 May in Smythesdale and two held in Bannockburn on Saturday 4 May and Sunday 29 June.<\/p>\n
For those who cannot attend in person, a zoom online workshop will be on Wednesday 5 June.<\/p>\n
Topics covered in the workshops will include improving soil health, innovative gardening methods, how to decrease running costs, harvesting, and preserving.<\/p>\n
Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said the sessions are a chance to learn new skills.<\/p>\n
“Whether you’re new to edible gardens or a previous webinar attendee, these workshops are a fantastic opportunity to elevate your gardening abilities and create the necessary skills to nurture your garden,” he said.<\/p>\n
