TWO volunteer Country Fire Authority brigades in Golden Plains have been awarded Australia Post People of Post community grants.<\/p>\n
Dereel CFA and Teesdale CFA are both beneficiaries of the program run by the national postal service with an aim of backing grassroots disaster and resilience, environment, and sustainability initiatives.<\/p>\n
Teesdale CFA has received $1150 to install two hose winders on two fire tankers, while Dereel CFA’s $2000 is going towards the purchase of up to three Break-A-Part firefighting branches from manufacturer, GAAM Industries.<\/p>\n
This equipment is expected to boost the safety of volunteer firefighters, and improve operational control.<\/p>\n
“At the heart of this initiative is Australia Post team members, who witness first-hand the incredible work community groups do every day across Australia,” said Australia Post general manager community and stakeholder engagement, Nicky Tracey.<\/p>\n
“Our People of Post grants give them the chance to give back.<\/p>\n
“At a time where cost of living is high, it’s great that Australia Post can help make a lasting impact to some of Australia’s most pressing issues.<\/p>\n
“We also know community groups are pivotal in fostering a sense of belonging and making a positive difference to individuals every day, which is particularly important at a time where one in seven Australians experience social isolation and loneliness.”<\/p>\n
The People of Post Grants program also aims to back grassroots Indigenous children’s literacy and learning, and mental health initiatives.<\/p>\n
Grants of up to $2000 are provided to successful applicants.<\/p>\n
More than 150 grants have gone to organisations across the country this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
