A FREE community bushfire scenario workshop is set to be held in the Golden Plains Shire next month.<\/p>\n
The event is a partnership between the municipality and Safer Together Victoria, designed to teach residents how to navigate potential bushfire scenarios.<\/p>\n
Topics covered in the workshop will include decision making under stress, stress management techniques and practical exercises in a bushfire event.<\/p>\n
Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham encouraged members to come along to the event held at The Well at Smythesdale.<\/p>\n
“With the recent bushfires we experienced in the northern parts of the Shire, this workshop is a great opportunity for local residents to gain a realistic understanding of what takes place during an emergency and learn valuable tips that will keep themselves and the community safe,” he said.<\/p>\n
“The workshop will focus on the first few hours of an emergency or disaster and how community members can assist before outside support is available.<\/p>\n
“I encourage all members of the community to attend the workshop and work together to develop a community response to emergency.”<\/p>\n
Light refreshments will be provided to attendees.<\/p>\n
