SPEED limits will soon be reduced on major and arterial roads, primarily in Golden Plains’ north.<\/p>\n
The changes are set to come into effect after Monday 1 July and arrive courtesy of the Golden Plains Shire applying to the Department of Transport and Planning following community feedback.<\/p>\n
Mayor, Cr Brett Cunningham, said the safety of those travelling on the region’s roads is paramount.<\/p>\n
“Council has listened to residents’ concerns about speed limit reductions on these roads and has worked closely with the Department of Transport to implement these changes,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Maintaining the safety of both pedestrians and road users on Golden Plains Shire’s road network is critical work, and these speed limit reductions support our commitment to road safety.<\/p>\n
“Council will continue to monitor speed limits in consultation with the community and identify projects that improve safety for all users residing in or passing through Golden Plains.”<\/p>\n
Bells Road at Smythes Creek will have its speed limit lowered from 100 kilometres per hour to 80 kilometres per hour.<\/p>\n
At Haddon, Wilsons Road’s speed limit will be reduced from 100 kilometres per hour to 80 kilometres per hour, while Racecourse Road’s limit will drop from 80 kilometres per hour to 60 kilometres per hour, which will take effect from the town to 500 metres west of the Central Highlands Karting Complex.<\/p>\n
The speed limit at Ross Creek’s Post Office Road south from Sebastopol-Smythesdale Road towards State Forest Road will be lowered from
\n100 kilometres per hour to 80 kilometres per hour.<\/p>\n
Sebastopol-Smythesdale Road will see its own changes, which will see its existing 80 kilometres per hour limit at Ross Creek extend all the way to Pascoe Street which will also be dropped from 80 kilometres per hour to the existing 60 kilometres per hour near Brooke
\nStreet.<\/p>\n
To the south-east, Lethbridge’s Ackland Road from the Midland Highway to Broom Road will see a speed limit reduction from 80 kilometres per hour to 60 kilometres per hour.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
