STAFF at Golden Plains Shire are seeking someone to help fill the municipality’s audit and risk committee.<\/p>\n
Expressions of interest are open now until 5pm today, Friday 21 June, and a suitably qualified and experienced person is being called upon join the team as an independent member.<\/p>\n
Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Brett Cunningham urged anyone with relevant experience to step up for the role.<\/p>\n
“Council’s audit and risk committee performs its role by monitoring, reviewing, endorsing and advising council on relevant matters set out in the Committee’s charter,” he said.<\/p>\n
“The appointment of independent members enables the committee to provide independent advice to council on relevant matters based on broader skills and experience outside of council.”<\/p>\n
The municipality’s audit and risk committee is aimed at overseeing the Golden Plains Shire’s governance, internal practices, and risk management.<\/p>\n
The group assists municipal staff in matters relating to financial and performance reporting, fraud prevention, while undertaking internal and external audits and ensuring compliance with the organisation’s policies and legal obligations.<\/p>\n
Once a successful applicant is found, the position is set to commence in August and to last for an initial three-year term, following which a second and final term may be made available.<\/p>\n
In carrying out its obligations, the audit and risk committee meets four times each year, and convenes on the second Thursday morning of February, May, August, and October.<\/p>\n
Meetings typically last between one to three hours.<\/p>\n
