{"id":98319,"date":"2024-06-21T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-20T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=98319"},"modified":"2024-06-19T19:12:24","modified_gmt":"2024-06-19T09:12:24","slug":"all-weather-equestrian-arena-for-leighdale-riders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/all-weather-equestrian-arena-for-leighdale-riders\/","title":{"rendered":"All-weather equestrian arena for Leighdale riders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LEIGHDALE Equestrian Centre&#8217;s upgraded covered arena has officially opened<\/p>\n<p>The arena roof will create opportunities for all-weather horse riding, and has 150 lux LED lighting.<\/p>\n<p>Spectator seating for 80 people and a self-irrigating flex material surface have been installed, alongside water tanks and a storm water drainage system.<\/p>\n<p>The arena works were funded with $318,296 from the State Government, $325,000 from the Golden Plains Shire, $30,000 from the Leighdale Equestrian Centre Committee of Management, and with grants from Bannockburn and District Community Bank, GPG Naturgy Group, and local businesses.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2024\/06\/image_50444545_89310.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Leighdale Equestrian Centre Committee of Management president Tom McCann, Member for Eureka Michaela Settle and Golden Plains Shire mayor, Cr Brett Cunningham officially opened the facility.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Leighdale Equestrian Centre had a massive day with the much-anticipated grand opening of the brand new indoor\/undercover arena,&#8221; said Leighdale Equestrian Centre Committee of Management member Kirsty Blake.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A massive amount of time and money has gone into achieving this brilliant community asset.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;State MP Michaela Settle presented at the opening along with mayor Brett Cunningham and our LEC Committee of Management president Tom McCann.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2024\/06\/image_50736897_89267.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"451\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Leighdale Pony Club members, six-year-old Marlee Black and Pegasus, try out the surface.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Member for Eureka Michaela Settle, also the Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture said the support came as part of the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The new roof and other upgrades are a big win for local horse-riding clubs,&#8221; Ms Settle said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This means even more of the community can enjoy having fun at the centre rain, hail or shine.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ms Blake said riders and carriage drivers will be able to book or hire the venue and the committee of management&#8217;s team of volunteers are putting final touches on this new process.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2024\/06\/IMG_3423_89269.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Under-cover: The indoor arena allows for horse riding all year round, and under lights.
