THE State Government’s Department of Health has highlighted the healthy, active living of Rokewood Primary School pupils.<\/p>\n

Rokewood PS students who took part in National Ride 2 School Day earlier in the year were featured on the The Achievement Program website.<\/p>\n

“The event was a great way to promote and support community connection and physical activity through active travel,” said Rokewood Primary School principal Ben Cook.<\/p>\n

“It was awesome to see everyone excited about active travel and experience how easy it is in practice.<\/p>\n

“Engaging with our local community health service and starting small was a big help to get us started.<\/p>\n

“We really encourage everyone to give it a go”<\/p>\n

Mr Cook said nearly-85-per-cent of students travelled to school on foot, on their bikes or scooters on National Ride 2 School Day.<\/p>\n

The local Ride 2 School initiative was spearheaded by Hesse Rural Health’s Healthy Communities Program staff, in partnership with the school, to promote wellbeing, exercise, and green transport options.<\/p>\n

“We couldn’t be happier with the turnout of students who showed up for Ride 2 School this year,” said Hesse Rural Health’s health promotion officer, Hannah Walker.<\/p>\n

“Support from the Healthy Communities Team is available to all early childhood services and schools in our region.<\/p>\n

“The Healthy Communities Team can help you to a build a healthier environment for your community, so please get in touch.”<\/p>\n
