AFTER months of works, the Linton Community Plan will be launched this weekend.<\/p>\n
Developed between community, Golden Plains Shire, and Non Profit Training, the plan is aimed at steering the implementation of priority projects for the town until 2027.<\/p>\n
Jennifer Cromarty is one of nearly a dozen community coordinators behind the plan and said the launch will be an ideal way to let everyone know what’s on the way for the town, especially regarding the town’s community hub.<\/p>\n
“It’s important for the community to know we’ve been able to work with council to develop a range of projects around the Linton Community Hub,” she said.<\/p>\n
“Back in March, there was a strong push from community to talk to council about the Linton Hub and how to retain access.<\/p>\n
“We had over 50 people in that council meeting which is huge for Linton.”<\/p>\n
The event will entail presentations from mayor Cr Brett Cunningham as well as Linton Progress Association president Bev Harris, and Linton Food Pantry’s Darryll Lees.<\/p>\n
Art exhibitions and craft displays will feature while historical society members will talk about the chamber’s history.<\/p>\n
The plan is being supported with $10,000 from the municipality, and Ms Cromarty said the plan’s priorities are about making the Linton Community Hub more fit-for-purpose.<\/p>\n
“The majority of projects is to do with everything from equipment to activations, and some planning as to how the hub can be used for the long-term,” she said.<\/p>\n
“There’s things like the ageing flooring, there’s internet access issues, plus we want to purchase things like printers and scanners, things people might want to use when they come in.”<\/p>\n
The launch event will take place on Sunday from 12pm at the Linton Community Hub.<\/p>\n
Other towns in the shire like Bannockburn, Batesford, Meredith, Mannibadar, Garibaldi, Cape Clear, Illabrook, and Rokewood Junction have also seen recent overhauls to their respective community plans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
