A NEW female friendly netball pavilion has officially opened at Victoria Park, Bannockburn.<\/p>\n
The facility at the Bannockburn Tigers Football Netball Club’s home ground has player and umpire change rooms for women and girls, accessible toilets, a first aid area, office and storage, and was funded by the State and Federal governments.<\/p>\n
Tigers members, Member for Geelong Christine Couzens, Member for Corangamite Libby Coker, and Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Brett Cunningham were on site to celebrate the pavilion’s completion last week.<\/p>\n
“Grassroots sports like netball are the lifeblood of this community, and it’s important that locals have modern and accessible facilities so people can come together, enjoy their sports and get active,” said Ms Couzens.<\/p>\n
“Bannockburn netball finally has the female friendly hub it needs to bring the community together to enjoy the activities they love.<\/p>\n

The State Government contributed $1.1 million to the new facility, while the Federal Government chipped in $690,000.<\/p>\n
“With such a strong history of female participation, these upgraded facilities will support the continued growth of the tigers,” said Ms Coker. “It’s an awesome outcome. “Clubs like Bannockburn are the heart and soul of regional communities, and now they have female friendly facilities they can be proud of.”<\/p>\n
Pre-existing football changerooms are being refurbished at Victoria Park and these are expected to be complete within 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
