{"id":99785,"date":"2024-10-10T14:10:16","date_gmt":"2024-10-10T03:10:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/come-face-to-face-with-ballarat-birdlife\/"},"modified":"2024-10-10T14:12:57","modified_gmt":"2024-10-10T03:12:57","slug":"come-face-to-face-with-ballarat-birdlife","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/living\/come-face-to-face-with-ballarat-birdlife\/","title":{"rendered":"Come face-to-face with Ballarat birdlife"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE colour and diversity of Ballarat&#8217;s wild bird population is on display at Barkly Square until 22 October.<\/p>\n<p>Birdlife Ballarat is putting on a photographic exhibition at the community centre, showcasing the captures of Birdlife Ballarat members.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There will be birds which people are familiar with and perhaps some which may be new to them,&#8221; said Amanda Ashton on behalf of Birdlife Ballarat.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The locations the photographs were taken may also inspire people to get out and explore places close to home that they haven&#8217;t been to before.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We aim to highlight the birds we share our region with and inspire people to take part in the Birdlife Australia Aussie Bird Count; the annual event that runs from October 14 to 20.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Aussie Bird Count is open to everyone, and is a simple-to-do 20-minute count you can do anywhere, any time during that week.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Data gathered across the country helps to monitor bird populations and see where conservation work can be targeted.<\/p>\n<p>BirdLife Ballarat offers a range of activities and outings within and around Ballarat, Clunes, Linton, and Newstead.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The group holds regular monthly outings and meetings that are open to everyone,&#8221; Ms Ashton said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One well-loved activity the branch run each year is a bird walk for members of the public at Lake Wendouree. We get Ballarat locals who come every year, as well as overseas visitors and families new to birdwatching.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Lake Wendouree Bird Walk will take place on 27 October at 9am from Pipers on Wendouree Parade.<\/p>\n<p>Birdlife Ballarat&#8217;s Photographic Exhibition can be seen from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 2pm Saturday.
