FROM mountain climbing to downhill skateboarding and wingsuit flying — the best action sports films of the moment are coming to Brunswick Heads this month as part of the Adventure Reels Tour.

The event’s founder and director Jemima Robinson — who also brought the Banff Mountain Film Festival to Australia — said this new tour features a selection of films that were chosen to resonate with local audiences.

“The motivation behind the Adventure Reels Tour is that it allows us to share the best adventure films we’ve seen this year, including more local films and also films that are more recently released,” she said.

The lineup includes Soul Flyers, which follows elite wingsuit pilots returning to the birthplace of their sport to honour the legacy of flight.

100 Days in Fiordland documents a 100-day winter expedition by kayak into New Zealand’s remote and rugged Fiordland National Park, while Frankenbiking offers a quirky and creative glimpse into the world of tall-bike rebels, turning unconventional riding into a form of radical expression.

In Keep It Burning, a father and son embark on a 28-day quest to climb the 6,200m Nameless Tower in Pakistan. The award-winning short film explores their emotional and physical journey.

Also featured is a profile of Carson Storch, considered one of the most talented slopestyle and freeride mountain bikers in the world. A veteran of the Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour, Red Bull Rampage and other major events, Carson has been wowing fans since he first landed the cover of Bike Magazine in 2013. The film takes audiences on a ride through his home turf in Bend, Oregon.

Adventure Reels screens at Brunswick Picture House on October 16.
