IT’S become a trend in the UK — and now daytime clubbing for the over 30s has made its way to the Northern Rivers.

Hypersonic Entertainment director Chris McPherson, one of the driving forces behind the concept, said the events are gaining popularity among those who still enjoy the clubbing experience but without the late nights and hangovers.

“If you’re over 30 you often have kids and jobs so you can’t be out clubbing until 3am anymore,” he said.

“It’s not impacting your day-to-day life. Not everyone goes home by 10pm, but most people do.”

The company’s upcoming Over 30s Club launch event at the Saltwater Social Club in Byron Bay will feature music spanning from the 1980s to today. Expect tracks from ABBA, the Backstreet Boys, Madonna, Eminem and Taylor Swift, along with glow sticks, confetti showers and giveaways.

Originally from Scotland, McPherson came to Australia in June to launch the events locally. He’s now working in tandem with his business partner, who continues to oversee operations in the UK.

The duo first tested the waters with events in Western Australia and the Northern Territory before expanding along the Queensland coast. They aim to reach more than 20 locations across the country by the end of the year.

“Across the board it seems to go well, so long may it continue,” McPherson said.

If the Byron Bay event is a success, McPherson hopes to bring it back and stage three to four events a year in the region.

Over 30s Club Presents Daytime Disco – Byron Bay Launch Party is on Saturday October 4 from 3pm.
