THE 33rd annual Antiques & Collectables Exhibition & Trading Fair will return to Murwillumbah, offering a bounty for antique enthusiasts and treasure hunters on Sunday, August 10.

The Northern Rivers Collectors Club (NRCC) organises the event with the support of the Rotary Club of Mt Warning AM Murwillumbah, who will also provide a barbecue and refreshments.

The highly-anticipated fair draws hundreds of shoppers with multiple displays and a wide range of stock, including antiques, vintage, retro and modern collectables such as china, glassware, tools, fishing and garage items, and old bottles.

“We have over 400 feet of table space with items for sale,” NRCC member Trevor Brooks said.

“There are also competitive displays with items up for show which aren’t on sale but where people compete for honours.”

Brooks said the event had raised funds for Tweed Palliative Support for the last 10 years.

“Over the last 10 years or so, we’ve raised around $33,000,” Brooks said.

“It fluctuates each year, but we are very happy to have supported the service for this long.”

With antiques and collectables popular across the population, Brooks said that there were plenty of treasures to hunt for avid seekers but that the club was always grateful for new membership.

“It’s tricky these days to get new people involved in the running of the club, although they’re always happy to come along and support the event and buy stuff, which is great,” he said.

“It’s often the same people that do a lot of work each year, and we’d love new people who are interested in collecting to join us.”

The fair runs at Murwillumbah Civic Centre from 8.30am to 2pm.
