GERRINGONG-BASED indie rock quartet Pacific Avenue will headline the Tracks Party at the Beach Hotel in Byron Bay on August 16.

Pacific Avenue, consisting of Harry O’Brien, Ben Fryer, Jack Kay, and Dom Littrich, has been making waves in the music scene.

The band has headlined shows across Australia and supported acts like the DMA’s in the UK.

Following their performance in Byron Bay, they will embark on a co-headline tour across Europe and the UK with The Rions.

Reflecting on their journey ahead of the Byron performance, band member Jack Kay said in the early days the band took inspiration from other Australian bands like Powderfinger and Jet.

“We wanted to try and emulate where we came from and the surf culture a lot of us grew up in,” Kay said.

“We all come from a musical background and everyone has their own taste, so everyone brings something different to the group and when you mix that together it creates a unique sound.

“It definitely takes time to figure out who you are and how you want to sound.”

Tracks Magazine editor Luke Kennedy said they had been hosting Tracks parties for 20 years but recently put more energy into making them everything they can be.

“We just did a big tour with the Goons of Doom and this is the second wave of the renewed born again Tracks Party,” Kennedy said.

“The Beachy hotel event will kick it off with Pacific Avenue headlining.

“We’ve also got Molly Rocket, Crocodylus and Allensworth who are all really entertaining acts in line with what we want to do with the Tracks party, which is bring back the fun to surf culture.

“The Tracks party also coincides with the Byron Bay Festival of Surfing, so it promises to be a great weekend of all things surfing.”
