AS OUR nation continues to reflect on the true cost of defence service, War Widows Day is a time to bring forward the stories of the women who also served through love, loss and sacrifice.

For decades, these women have been the pillars of our community with sacrifices too often left unrecorded and carried only in family memory.

The Families of Veterans Guild’s new War Widows Honour Roll ensures their stories, their service and sacrifice are recognised and remembered.

This Honour Roll provides a digital place of remembrance that honours the women who have carried the burden of Australian Defence Force service.

It’s a chance for our community to say to these special women: we see you, we honour you, and you will not be forgotten.

This month, we invite the community to add a tribute to our War Widows Honour Roll.

Honour a war widow who has touched your life by sharing their story on the War Widows Honour Roll, recognising their sacrifice and preserving their story for future generations.

Sharing a war widow’s story reminds our community that their sacrifice is part of our history, and that in Ballina, we will remember.
