ENTREPRENEUR Janine Allis has been appointed to the board of Surfing Australia, bringing decades of business experience to the national sporting body.

The Wategos resident founded Boost Juice and helped build the Retail Zoo group, which operates more than 900 stores in 13 countries.

She is also a published author, business mentor and media personality, known for appearances on Shark Tank, Australian Survivor and Celebrity Apprentice.

Her appointment comes as Surfing Australia looks to expand its commercial strategy and build on participation at all levels.

“Surfing is woven into the fabric of Australian life – from little groms to spirited 80-year-olds still chasing waves,” Allis said.

“We’ve long held a proud place on the world stage, and that’s thanks to the incredible work done by so many before me.

“I’m honoured to join the board of Surfing Australia and look forward to contributing to its continued leadership and support of everyone who loves the ocean, from the elite to the everyday surfer.”

Surfing Australia chair Adrian Buchan said Allis would bring valuable business knowledge and a deep love of surfing to the board.

“It’s a privilege to welcome Janine to the board of Surfing Australia,” Buchan said.

“I’ve followed her success and I’m excited to have her voice joining us at board level.”

Allis is also a long-time advocate for women in leadership and sport, and is expected to support Surfing Australia’s efforts to increase female participation in surfing and elevate women across all levels of the sport.
