THE TWEED Shire Council invites community groups to apply for small-scale grants to help host Australia Day events.

Funds are available for events held three days either side of Australia Day, January 26, 2025.

Eligibility is in three different categories, with $300, $400 and $500 on offer depending on the size of the event.

In 2024 Council supported Australia Day events such as a Crabbes Creek breakfast and community awards, a community event in Murwillumbah, a family fun day in Tumbulgum and a Tyalgum ceremony and community awards.

To qualify for funding, community groups must be in the Tweed region and provide an outline of the planned event. Applicants must also be an incorporated body and hold public liability insurance.

The event must also be open to the public and not exclusively for members of private businesses.

Successful applicants must also list their event on the Council’s calendar of events and display recognition of the Council’s support in all promotional efforts and on the event day.

All necessary permits and approvals must be obtained if the event is planned to occur on council-managed land, such as a park or beach.

The Tweed Shire Australia Day Awards Selection Panel will review all applications in late October.

For more information or to apply, complete the application form before Friday, October 11 at tweed.nsw.gov.au/australia-day
