Ballina Library social circle hosts local author
THE works of local author Penny Fields-Schneider were explored at a recent Ballina Library Social Circle meeting.
Fields-Schneider, known for her historical fiction series “Portraits in Blue,” shared insights into her work and discussed her upcoming novel, “The Woman Who Painted the Seasons.”
Member Ian Davies praised “Portraits in Blue.”
“The highly successful series demonstrates Penny’s love of the arts, writing works of historical fiction that leave readers with a deep understanding of the art world as well as taking readers on emotional journeys that encompass families and friends,” Davies said.
The four books follow the fictitious character Jack Tomlison, an Australian from the 1930s who moves to London and eventually into the art world of Paris.
Along the way, Jack’s relationships with three significant figures, Margaret and twins Andres and Sofia, are explored.
Fields-Schneider’s upcoming novel focuses on Lee Krasner, the wife of artist Jackson Pollock, continuing her tradition of blending art and history in her narratives.
Jacki Alexander, the Social Circle coordinator, said, “Each person has a unique story to share.”
The group, consisting of approximately 25 members, meets every Monday morning at 10 am for an hour of storytelling, Q&A sessions, and casual chats over a cuppa.
