BRUNSWICK Surf Life Saving Club will fly the Progress Flag during its patrol on Sunday as part of the national Rainbow Beaches initiative.
The patrol will take place from 9am on February 8 at Brunswick Heads Beach, marking the club’s participation in Rainbow Beaches, a campaign promoting inclusion and visibility across surf lifesaving.
The Progress Flag will be flown throughout the patrol to signal that the beach is a welcoming and inclusive space for all members of the community.
Brunswick SLSC patrol captain Simon Ceglinski said the patrol was about making inclusion visible at the beach.
“Surf lifesaving is about looking after everyone who comes to the beach,” Ceglinski said.
“By raising the Progress colours, we’re making it clear that everyone is welcome between the red and yellow flags — no matter who they are.”
Brunswick SLSC nippers will also take part on the morning, dressing in bright colours and face paint during activities at the beach.
Rainbow Beaches is run by Lifesavers With Pride and is supported by surf life saving clubs across the country.
More than 130 clubs nationally took part in the initiative last year.
Brunswick Surf Life Saving Club is one of several clubs participating in Rainbow Beaches events across New South Wales this summer.
