TWEED Shire Council has announced funding for 20 events as part of its 2025-2026 Event Sponsorship Program.
The program supports events that celebrate the region’s natural, creative and culinary strengths while aligning with community values.
Mayor Chris Cherry said the sponsorship program was about strengthening local connections and promoting what the Tweed had to offer.
“Our local events are more than just great days out. They foster connection, showcase our creativity, and celebrate what makes the Tweed such a special place to live and visit,” Cherry said.
“There is a wonderful mix of events on offer this year, from family fun to national sporting competitions. I’m proud Council is helping make them possible.”
Funded events range from the Pathway of the Sun Fair at Crabbes Creek and the Tyalgum Music Festival, to the Chasing Swell Tweed Coast Pro Junior at Cabarita Beach and the Murwillumbah Show.
Sporting highlights include the Kingscliff Triathlon, the Tweed Coast Enduro, the Head of the Tweed rowing regatta and the Seas the Day Women’s Surf Festival.
Council has also renewed its partnership with Tweed Tourism Co to deliver Savour the Tweed, running in October, and confirmed multi-year state funding for the Tweed Regional Museum Street Party, which will return to Murwillumbah in September..
