Creating a vibrant festival scene
ENSURING a vibrant event schedule across the region, Ballina Shire Council has opened its Festival and Event Sponsorship Program for the 2025/26 financial year.
The program, which is in its 14th year, allows event organisers to apply for sponsorship from a pool of about $120,000 in funding for their festival or event, to be held in the 2025/26 financial year.
Mayor Sharon Cadwallader said events were essential for connecting and uniting the community, bringing positive social and economic benefits to the region.
“Given the time and effort required to plan these events, it is important we confirm this funding for event organisers well ahead of the 2025/26 financial year, which is why we invite applications early in the process,” Cr Cadwallader said.
“If you’re planning an event in the Shire or know an organisation that could benefit from this funding to enhance their event or festival, please direct them to the Ballina Shire Council website.”
The program has sponsored a range of successful events, including the Alstonville New Year’s Eve Family Festival, Love Lennox Festival, Fair Go (skate competition event), and Skullcandy Oz Grom Open (a junior surfing competition).
Applicants need to hold adequate public liability insurance, festival/event costs must be more than $20,000, and the festival/event must be held in the Ballina Shire. Multicultural and multifaith community groups can also apply for a share of $500,000 to deliver grassroots festivals and events that foster community harmony and celebrate cultural diversity.
