A GROUP of local experts will share their top finance tips at an upcoming event hosted by the Ballina Chamber of Commerce, covering topics from interest rate projections to the best banks for borrowing.

The Financial Wealth Insights panel will be made up of real estate agents from Elders Lifestyle Group and LJ Hooker alongside advisers and mortgage brokers from Collins Hume Chartered Accountants, Korff Wealth and Zep Finance.

It will be hosted by Ballina Chamber of Commerce president Amanda Gorvin, who is also general manager of Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, and MC’d by vice-president and chartered accountant/consultant Matt Prentice.

“Everyone wants to know if they are doing the right thing financially, how to get ahead and whether they should be holding or selling property, especially given there’s so much financial uncertainty at the moment,” Mr Prentice said.

“It will also look at what people are actually doing.

“Our own board is quite heavy with financial services talent and we thought how about we showcase that to our members.”

The panel will also cover topics such as risk versus reward, the changing roles of banks, shares and managed funds and ethical investing.

“It’s supposed to be insightful but playful,” Mr Prentice said.

“It’s after work so it needs to be entertaining and fun, with a bit of banter.”

The Financial Wealth Insights panel will be on at the Ramada Hotel in Ballina on Wednesday October 23 from 5pm for a 5.30pm start, with canapes served by local restaurant Saltbush.
