LOCAL community-focused regenerative farm Raven Place is hosting a unique wild food event in the Tweed later this month.
The Weedy Walk & Talk workshop will provide knowledge and professional guidance from a foraging expert about edible weeds and how to incorporate the foods that grow around us into everyday diets.
Forager, wild food educator, mushroom hunter, and edible weeds advocate Chanterelle Foggin is a cook and food writer who openly admits to her obsession.
“I find myself in the long grass, casting shadows in paddocks, bent down in creek beds, all for the promise of the joy of the wild food hunt,” Foggin said.
“It’s the wandering spirit, the foraging spirit, that is innate, intrinsic, and available to all of us.
“I fill my baskets with seaweeds, fungi, plants, flowers, berries and edible weeds and create magical meals and wild flavours.

“I play with foraged goodies like lemon myrtle and marshmallow fungi, to wild raspberries – all turned into magical meals.”
Foggin is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience, educating others about the wild, sustainable, and convenient superfoods that grow in the surrounding areas and across the state.
Her Forage and Grow NSW Facebook page is a platform of over 3.5K followers who share in Foggin’s creative food adventures, where the educator fosters a safe learning environment, shares her expertise and aims to build connections between like-minded people.
Weedy Walk & Talk takes place on Saturday, September 13, from 9 am
Raven Place refreshments and a light ‘weedy’ morning tea are included.
