Goonellabah family fun day
The event is being run through two of the organisation’s support programs: Mijung Jarjums Kids in Mind and Family Connect and Support (FCS). It aims to provide families with a free, relaxed day out.
Social Futures program manager for children, youth and families Kiara McBeath said the day was about connection and community.

“This free event provides a wonderful opportunity for families to come together for some quality time, and to have some fun without financial pressure,” she said.
“Eight hundred people came along last year. It was a huge hit with families, and we’re looking forward to welcoming the community again this year.”
Mijung Jarjums, meaning “Happy Kids” in Bundjalung, is a federally funded early intervention service that supports the wellbeing of children, young people and their carers. It is available to anyone under 18 and their families.

The state-funded Family Connect and Support program helps families access services such as counselling, mental health support, financial advice and housing assistance.
McBeath said the fun day was a chance for families to relax and meet the team.
“Our team members will all be on the ground, so please come along and say hi,” she said.
The Family Fun Day runs from 11am to 2pm at Clifford Park, Goonellabah.
