Have your say in Tweed’s future
TWEED Shire Council is inviting the community to have its say on a review of the draft Community Strategic Plan 2025-2035.
Residents have also been asked to view other key documents that will guide the Council and community development in the future.
In 2022, the Council, in collaboration with the community and stakeholders, developed a new Community Strategic Plan (CSP) and reviewed the existing strategy to determine progress.
Part of the Office of Local Government’s Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework, the CSP is premised on the community’s aspirations for the next decade.
Tweed Shire Mayor Chris Cherry said the Council wanted to plan with the community to enable sustainable community outcomes for generations.
“The Community Strategic Plan 2025–2035 is a roadmap for the decade ahead— shaped by our community, for our community,” Cr Cherry said.
“More than just a plan, it is a commitment to the future we want to create together, which is why we would love to hear from you.”
The Tweed community has previously said it wants a healthy natural environment, and to be safe at home and in the community with reliable essential services and infrastructure.
Residents also wanted Tweed’s people and places to thrive and to work together to plan for the future sustainably.
Key community priorities have remained consistent in the 2024 statistically representative ‘Be Our Best Resident’ survey completed by over 400 Tweed residents.
Priorities include more/better services and facilities, maintaining and upgrading the local road network, access to more affordable housing and managing population growth and overdevelopment
Submissions are open until 4 pm on Tuesday, May 20.
