Jingle all the way to fresh local delights
NORTH Byron Hotel will kick off the festive season with its popular Christmas Bazaar of Local Delights on Saturday December 7.
The family-friendly event will include “reindeer” rides with different-sized ponies from neighbouring Zephyr Horses wearing antlers for children of all ages, entertainment from Shorty Brown the clown and a visit from Santa.
The hotel’s beer garden will be decorated with a Christmas tree, tinsel and wreaths, with Christmas carollers performing and live music.
Its resident drag queens will also perform a special Christmas show.
An abundance of local produce will be on offer, with Cromwell Farm and Devine Quality Meats serving bespoke sausages, The Bay Smokehouse selling smoked fish rillettes and Australian Bay Lobsters offering bug rolls and pints of prawns.
Event coordinator Bex Barriball said the Bazaar was all about pulling together the venue’s favourite local producers who they champion on the menu year-round.
“It’s an afternoon where parents can indulge in some local delicacies and children can run around and have fun in the safety of our garden,” she said.
“It’s when summer picks up and it’s a way to celebrate all that’s to come and all that we have championed for so long with the local produce on our menus and our relationship with local suppliers.”
Other producers who will be there on the day include Nimbin Valley Cheese, AZTECA Margaritas, Salumi Australia, Morelli’s Deli and Benilato Gelato.
The event kicks off at 12pm, with activities staggered throughout the afternoon until 5pm. One of the hotel’s resident DJs will then play vinyl tunes into the night.
Registrations are encouraged for catering purposes and it’s strongly advised to get there early for pony rides, which begin at 2pm.
