Learn how to weather any storm
LOCAL businesspeople are being invited to learn how they can become more resilient in the face of disasters at a free event the Ramada Hotel in Ballina before work on Friday February 21.
Attendees at the free information session, organised by the NSW Reconstruction Authority, will discover more about the Business Beyond Disasters online program, which is available to all Northern Rivers businesses and non-profit organisations.
The program, which starts in March and runs for 10 weeks, focuses on strategies to help businesses plan, prepare and build skills to keep them running during tough times so they can recover quickly after a disaster and better adapt to future challenges.
It features weekly five-minute online learning modules designed to make people think and act differently, with regular online check-ins to connect and share insights with other participants, plus links to key support resources and services.
Participants can choose to join one of five programs that best align to their specific area of business.
They include retail, professional services and education; agribusiness and aqua business; tourism; health and social services; and construction, trade and manufacturing.
Resilient Ready, who are specialists in business and community risk reduction and resilience, will deliver the program, which is funded by the Australian Government and NSW Government.
Representatives from the NSW Reconstruction Authority, other key agencies and emergency services will be in attendance to share updates on adaption planning.
The event will be held at Ramada Hotel Ballina from 7.30am to 9am on Friday February 21.
