STUDENTS at Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School will bring the musical Beauty and the Beast to the stage from March 25 to 28 in a major production involving performers and crew from across the school.

The show will be held at the school campus following months of rehearsals and preparation.

Principal Stuart Marquardt said school productions played an important role in building creativity, confidence and community connections.

“We see performing arts as an essential part of a well rounded education,” he said.

“Productions like Beauty and the Beast give students opportunities to explore creativity, collaboration, and confidence.”

He said the musical had brought together students from different year levels in both onstage and behind the scenes roles.

“For some students it is their first experience performing on stage, while others develop their skills in music, acting, dance, stage management, lighting, or technical production,” he said.

Marquardt said the production would remain faithful to the original stage adaptation, featuring well known characters, songs and moments audiences expect.

He said the months of preparation had helped students develop resilience and teamwork.

“A musical such as Beauty and the Beast involves hundreds of hours of rehearsals, teamwork and problem solving, all of which help students build resilience, discipline and confidence,” he said.

He added that productions often created lasting friendships and a strong sense of shared achievement.

“These experiences are incredibly powerful for student wellbeing because they help students feel connected, valued, and proud of what they have achieved together,” he said.

The musical runs from March 25 to 28 at Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School.
