PERFORMER and microbiologist Richard Scholes will bring his science-themed stage show to the Northern Rivers for the first time next week.

Scholes will perform his Magical World of Crazy Science show for the first time on the Northern Rivers at the Ballina RSL Club on Tuesday, April 22.

It is a unique show which includes mime, music and science.

There are large bubbles and smoke rings as part of the show with experiments performed on stage.

“I was an entertainer who did a magic mask show at different Casinos and cruise ships around the world,” Scholes said.

“I eventually went back to university and was a microbiologist for about 10 years.

“I was intrigued by watching experiments and thought I would have loved to have seen some of them as a kid.

“In the end I turned my own work into a show, and I’ve been travelling around the country with my wife for about 12 years now.”

Scholes has also taken the show internationally through Europe and performed in front of big crowds at London and Sweden.

A career highlight has been the show being picked up and produced into a four-hour television series at Doha, in Qatar.

“I haven’t come across anything else like what we do on our travels overseas,” Scholes said.

“It was pretty wild to be picked up for a series in Doha, they really wanted it as part of an education program.

“We live on the Gold Coast, so I’m a little surprised we haven’t done a show on the Northern Rivers before. “We’re really looking forward to it.

The show is suitable for all ages with tickets available at ballinarsl.com.au.
