Mushroom whispering to music
TWEED Landcare is presenting a unique film night at the Citadel in Murwillumbah on December 15.
On the big screen, fungi rules with a screening of the Netflix film The Mushroom Whisperers in an immersive arts experience revealing the secret rhythms of fungi in vivid detail.
Promising an enchanting world where music and nature intertwine, world-class musicians and composers to the score of Follow the Rain, Romano Crivici (piano and violin) and Carla Thackrah (flute and voice), will perform live to additional fungi time-lapse imagery.
Collected over a decade by Follow the Rain producers, Australian fungi photographer Stephen Axford and documentary maker Catherine Marciniak, it features species found in many parts of the world.
Landcare Community Officer Isabelle Oude-Egberink said it was an opportunity to dive into the fascinating, unseen world of fungi through art and music.
“It’s where nature’s rhythm meets human art,” she said.
“Secure a seat at this great Landcare supporting event and connect with the hidden architects of our world.”
A Q&A with the musicians will follow the 50-minute performance.
All profits will be donated to Landcare.
Two performances will be held at 3 pm and 7 pm, and bookings are essential.
