NBN upgrade information sessions
RESIDENTS and local business owners across the Byron Shire are being invited to a series of community information sessions to learn more about the latest upgrades to the National Broadband Network (nbn).
More than 9,000 homes and businesses in Byron Bay, Bangalow, Suffolk Park, Ocean Shores and Mullumbimby are now eligible to upgrade to full fibre connections.
An nbn spokesperson said the move from copper to full fibre offers significant improvements, including smoother video calls, faster streaming, better online gaming performance and the ability to connect more devices — such as smart TVs, home security systems, and other smart technology — at the same time.
To access the upgraded service, eligible new and existing customers will need to order a high-speed plan (minimum 100 Mbps download) through a participating provider.
In addition to the fibre rollout, the nbn has also made major enhancements to its Fixed Wireless network, boosting speeds and capacity in regional and rural areas.
To help residents understand these changes and how to make the most of their internet setup, the nbn local team will host a series of drop-in information sessions.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive personalised advice on upgrading their connection and optimising their home or business network.
The sessions will be held at Bangalow Heritage House from 9am to 4pm on Friday August 8, Federal General Store from 9am to 5pm on Saturday August 9 and Bangalow Foodworks from 9am to 5pm on Sunday August 10.
They will also be at Ewingsdale Hall from 8am to 12pm on Monday August 11 and Spar Shop Suffolk Park from 1 to 5pm on Monday August 11.
