NINE Northern Rivers seniors have been recognised for their community contributions at a ceremony in Lismore.

NSW Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin presented the certificates of appreciation, co-signed by Minister for Seniors Jodie Harrison, at a morning tea held at the Lismore City Bowling Club.

“This is the second year that we’ve run these awards as a way of honouring the many quiet achievers who give their time, experience and considerable skills in the service of others,” Saffin said.

Honourees included Stephen Darragh and George Stein for their volunteer driving work through HART Services; Lyn Felsch and Norma Blume for their long-time service with the Red Cross Tea Rooms; and Heather Goulding for her contributions to events and groups in the Tenterfield community.

Also recognised were Robert Dingle for his work with U3A Northern Rivers; Sharon Tucker for more than four decades of service in Bonalbo; Keith Gasteen for mental health peer support work; and Susan Stock for her two decades as co-editor of The Nimbin Good Times.

Saffin also acknowledged Trinity Catholic College students Hamish Bailey and Caleb Scherrer, who helped organise the event as part of their work experience.
