BYRON Bay International Film Festival director J’aimee Skippon-Volke and Indigenous chef Mindy Woods will help facilitate a networking and knowledge sharing event in Byron Bay in the lead-up to International Women’s Day.

Byron’s Badass Women of Business event will be held at Byron Bay Spirit Company’s new distillery in the arts and industry estate on Tuesday, March 4.

Corporate coach Ashlea Griffin, from The Happy Therapist, and business coach Kylie Mowbray-Allan, who specialises in digital marketing, will also share their expertise at the function, which is hosted by Byron Bay Chamber of Commerce.

Skippon-Volke, who is also vice-president of the Chamber, said attendees would be spread around at different round tables, with each discussing a different topic.

They will include such issues as the power of storytelling to build a meaningful brand and how to use your personality and feminine traits to drive success in business.

“You have to be fearless and walk your own path to do business well,” Skippon-Volke said.

“It’s one thing if you have a shop that’s been open for a million years and nobody else is filling that need, but in this day and age everyone is being called on to find their unique selling proposition.”

Skippon-Volke said the round table format was one that had proven popular at BBIFF events.

“A lot of networking events are standing around having drinks and introducing yourself to people and you just end up hanging in your normal cliques,” she said.

“This format allows people to quickly get to know other people without the awkwardness of shuffling up to everybody asking them what they do and why they’re there.”

The event is limited to 60 tickets, which cost $15 for Byron Bay Chamber of Commerce members, including a welcome cocktail or mocktail on arrival, and $25 for non-members.
