Shearwater Spring Fair returns with music and games
THE highly-anticipated Shearwater Spring Fair is back with all the music, games, activities, student displays and performances that celebrate community and connection at the turning of the season.
This year’s theme is ‘play’ and activities for all ages, including clay play, crystal dig and flower crown weaving, old-fashioned fair games, Steam Lab science fun, Spaghetti Circus, volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, and more are on offer this Saturday, 7 September.
The event includes morning displays of the high school curriculum, and primary classrooms will be open to the community. Music lovers will enjoy string performances in the morning and the best Shearwater High School bands and solo performers from 1pm.
The Enchanted Forest will provide a shady grove with crafts and games for the smaller visitors to make a spring flower crown or get muddy with a clay play.
Side Show Alley keeps the big kids and teens busy with Steam Lab science fun, a photo booth and heaps of old-fashioned fair games such as the beanbag toss, coconut shy, pillow fights and sponge throw. Children versus grown-ups can compete in the ultimate Frisbee and volleyball.
The Village Green market space will host a variety of food trucks and stalls, including barbecue, pizza, falafel, sushi, nachos, ice cream, coffee, smoothies, chai, and cakes.
The Spring Fair is a cash-only event, and an ATM machine will be located onsite. The event does not cater for dogs, and as it works towards zero waste, reusable picnic supplies and refillable water bottles are encouraged.
Lunch and refreshments at the alcohol and smoke-free event are available all day. Onsite parking is limited.
