BALLINA Seagulls rugby league and the Rotary on Richmond Club are teaming up to bring Australian sports legends Merv Hughes and Paul Sironen to a fundraiser lunch.
The pair will be guest speakers at Cherry Street Sports Club on Friday, November 24.
Funds raised from the lunch will support the Seagulls rugby league and rotary clubs with its events and programs for the upcoming year.
It will be a timely visit for Hughes with the first cricket test match in the Ashes Series between Australia and England being played during that period.
Hughes represented Australia in 53 test matches between 1985 and 1994, taking 212 wickets.
He was part of three national teams that won Ashes Series, including two in England.
In 1993, he took 31 wickets in the series and was one of the most iconic cricketers during the era.

“The speakers will provide insights, and stories that celebrate resilience and mateship,” an event spokesperson said.
“The event will also include exciting interactive experiences to keep the energy high and the atmosphere fun.”
Sironen moved to the region a few years ago and works in a community role with the NSW Rugby League.
He is the most capped player for the Balmain Tigers, playing 246 games as well as representing Australia and NSW in the State of Origin series.
He served as a board member, general manager and pathways manager at the Balmain club after he retired.
Sironen has also been part of fundraisers and presentations with Northern Rivers Titans junior representative teams in recent years.
