{"id":101940,"date":"2024-09-26T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-26T02:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/?p=101940"},"modified":"2024-09-26T12:03:49","modified_gmt":"2024-09-26T02:03:49","slug":"fantastical-fete-at-coorabell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/news\/fantastical-fete-at-coorabell\/","title":{"rendered":"Fantastical fete at Coorabell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than 500 witches, wizards and warlocks ventured out of their castles to attend the Coorabell Public School fete this month.<\/p>\n<p>Relieving principal Lisa van Kempen said the fete, which is held every two years, has had a wizardly theme since 2017.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The theme is popular with our community,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Many of the children and adults love dressing up and it evokes a sense of magic and fantasy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The attraction of the theme was the aesthetic around old-fashioned handmade props, which everyone enjoyed contributing to within the creation of the setup.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/09\/NealWebbfromEnergyin_38109.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"395\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Neal Webb from Energy in Motion performing at Coorabell Public School&#8217;s fete. Photo: STEFFEN BALVIN<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As well as activities such as wand and potion making, attendees took part in nature-based art such as making bush critters from seed pods and clay.<\/p>\n<p>There was also live music, a fire show, jumping castles and old-fashioned sideshow alley games, including Knock &#8217;em Down and Lucky Socks, where everyone wins a prize.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One of our fantastically creative parents made an amazing maze with more than 400 metres of fabric and bamboo with a wizardly theme,&#8221; Ms van Kempen said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/09\/TheWizardlyFeteatCoo_40365.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"426\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A stall at the Wizardly Fete at Coorabell Public School.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms van Kempen said she loved seeing the joy on people&#8217;s faces and the happy vibe of the day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had many people from grandparents to babies who were able to participate in the offerings of the day,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;People said it was the biggest and best fete ever.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There was something for everyone to do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than 500 witches, wizards and warlocks ventured out of their castles to attend the Coorabell Public School fete this month.
