Photo: CATHY ADAMS<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Bee Lab provides training to beekeepers on identifying and eradicating Varroa mites and focuses on honey bee nutrition, queen bee breeding, pollination, and the use of technology in bee management.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Any bee colony that is not managed by humans right now, the proportion of the colony that can survive without human intervention is maybe one per cent,&#8221; Schouten said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/11\/DSC_3595_93973.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"902\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Varroa mites could threaten 95 per cent of feral bee colonies in Australia.
