ROCKINGHORSE Studios at Coorabell is hosting a workshop with George Carpenter, teaching participants the skills to record a live performance.<\/p>\n

Carpenter, a renowned producer, engineer, mixer and multi-instrumentalist, will showcase his unique techniques to get cutting-edge sounds when producing a live band.<\/p>\n

In the past, has worked with Ash Grunwald, Karl S. Williams, and Budjerah.<\/p>\n

Walker Robinson from Rockinghorse Studios said it was a great opportunity to see first-hand how it’s done from someone who is very good at it.<\/p>\n

“The best thing is to learn in the studio. It’s something you can’t learn on the internet. You’re dealing with real-life scenarios.”<\/p>\n

Carpenter will demonstrate his unique approach to capturing drums, bass, acoustic and electric guitars, and vocals.<\/p>\n

Attendees will dive deep into live band recording, learning the technical skills behind capturing the raw energy of a live performance.<\/p>\n

The hands-on workshop will cover setting up the studio using the full array of the studio’s vintage and new microphones, outboard gear, and cue systems.<\/p>\n

Robinson said people at the workshop will also get to watch how Carpenter works with the musicians, building a rapport to get the best result.<\/p>\n

Indie\/alt-country musician Emily Grace Taylor and her band will be in the studio to assist with the session.<\/p>\n

It offers the chance for aspiring engineers, producers, and self-producing artists the chance to get inside the mindset and techniques behind a professional live band recording.<\/p>\n

Robinson said the people shouldn’t feel daunted about applying.<\/p>\n

The workshop is for people of all skill levels, from students just starting in the industry to engineers wanting to learn new techniques.<\/p>\n

“It’s very open. Everyone can get something out of it. There’s no crazy theory, it’s very relateable,” Robinson said.<\/p>\n

He said it was a way for people to see how their studio works and to feel confident to record there in the future.<\/p>\n

“It’s an opportunity to come and learn, feel out the space, learn how to use it and make that connection.”<\/p>\n

Founded in 1992 Rockinghorse Studios has recorded the work of Wolf Mother, Mental as Anything, The Cruel Sea, Yothu Yindi, Olivia Newton John, Delta Goodrem, and Brian Cadd.<\/p>\n

The workshop is on November 24 from 9.30am to 5.30pm.<\/p>\n

There is a 15 per cent discount for students under 18.<\/p>\n
