TWEED Shire Council is seeking community feedback on the plans to upgrade the Terranora Creek foreshore.<\/p>\n

Restoration works planned for early 2025 aim to increase safety and community access to the creek, including improving the creek foreshore and the removal of dilapidated, unsafe constructions.<\/p>\n

The $400,000 parkland upgrade includes the removal of broken and degraded foreshore structures built years ago without Council<\/p>\n

approval and replacing the structures with rock walls to prevent erosion. Two new stairs with ramps will improve community access to the creek.<\/p>\n

The Council’s coast and waterways team leader, Tom Alletson, said the upgrade would improve community access to the creek and remove unsafe and unsightly structures.<\/p>\n

“During construction, access to the park will be limited, however the end result will be an enhanced foreshore for local residents and those that visit the area,” Mr Alletson said.<\/p>\n

“We know Tweed residents value our region’s waterways, and this project marks a significant step forward in providing safer and more accessible spaces and areas for the whole community to enjoy.”<\/p>\n

Consultation with residents whose homes back onto the park has begun, and construction is expected to last for about four weeks.<\/p>\n

The NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Program has funded the project.<\/p>\n

The initiative aims to boost the wellbeing of communities in regional areas by providing new or upgraded social infrastructure.<\/p>\n
