{"id":103142,"date":"2024-11-21T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-20T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/?p=103142"},"modified":"2024-11-20T16:49:16","modified_gmt":"2024-11-20T05:49:16","slug":"feathers-fowl-and-fun-at-bangalow-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/news\/feathers-fowl-and-fun-at-bangalow-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Feathers, fowl and fun at Bangalow Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FAMILIES flocked to Bangalow Showground last weekend for the annual Bangalow Show, which featured everything from rooster crowing competitions to a monster truck demonstration.<\/p>\n<p>Bangalow Show Society president Donna Jenner said the event was a big success, despite some rain on Friday night, which resulted in the cancellation of the open campdraft competition on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a bit disappointing for a lot of people, but we can&#8217;t control the weather and we are refunding the entry fee,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/11\/AnnaFreemanfromCreat_80658.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Anna Freeman from Create Art Studio and Harriet Jacobson from Byron Bay at the Bangalow Show. Photo: MARALYN HANIGAN<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Saturday&#8217;s events all went really well, and the monster trucks were a huge hit before the fireworks show that evening.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ms Jenner said there was a record number of entries in this year&#8217;s tart-of-the-show competition, which had to include macadamia nuts.<\/p>\n<p>The contest was won by Megan Wright, while Summer Chaseling was named the 2024 Young Woman of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s theme was chooks, to celebrate the 100th birthday of Bangalow Poultry Club.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/11\/Campdraftactionatthe_82848.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"362\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Campdraft action at the Bangalow Show.
