Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Workers have been busy at the heritage-listed Lismore Railway Station, transforming it into a hub that honours the area&#8217;s history. Features include signs made from original steel railway lines and seats crafted from historic bridge timbers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/11\/DSC_4549E_84910.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Standing, a project manager from Readings Engineering in South Lismore, oversaw the creation of the &#8220;Lismore&#8221; sign, made entirely from railway steel.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Railway tracks take a fair bit of cutting, getting all the angles right,&#8221; Standing said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/11\/467302233_9518639203_14661.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"480\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A section of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail between South Lismore and Bentley. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Readings Engineering team also built trailhead seating, horse-hitching rails, and a 4m bike rack made from repurposed railway steel. External upgrades to the station precinct, including new turf and pressure cleaning, are nearing completion.<\/p>\n<p>All five rest areas along the trail have been completed and feature shelters, picnic tables, bike racks, and hitching rails for horses.<\/p>\n<p>Future expansion plans include the 20.9km section between Booyong and South Lismore, which is currently seeking funding.<\/p>\n<p>The 54.2km section from Booyong to Crabbes Creek is still in the planning and approval stage.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/11\/467331332_9518640003_14634.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Lismore sign at LismoreRailway Station.
