COMMUNITY groups and ex-service organisations can now apply for grants to conserve, repair, and protect war memorials across New South Wales.<\/p>\n
The Community War Memorial Grants, established by the NSW Government, provide funding for projects such as conservation assessments, honour roll repairs, cleaning and conservation work, arborist advice for memorial trees, minor repairs to memorial halls, and improvements to accessibility.<\/p>\n
Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin said war memorials are a significant part of local history.<\/p>\n
“These grants are to help protect our memorials and ensure the service and sacrifice of our veterans is not forgotten,” Saffin said.<\/p>\n
“I encourage any community group or ex-service organisation to review the condition of our local war memorials and apply for funding for any necessary conservation work.”<\/p>\n
The State War Memorials Committee, which includes representatives from RSL NSW, NSW Public Works, Heritage NSW, and the NSW Office for Veterans Affairs, will assess grant applications.<\/p>\n
