THE Tweed Seniors Festival is set to return in March 2025, with residents invited to participate and nominate outstanding seniors for recognition.<\/p>\n

As part of the NSW Seniors Festival\u2014the largest celebration of seniors in the Southern Hemisphere\u2014the Tweed festival encourages older residents to explore new experiences and foster friendships through a range of activities and events.<\/p>\n

Past festivals have featured concerts, workshops, luncheons, leisure activities, tours, and exhibitions.<\/p>\n

Registered events will be promoted in the official 2025 Tweed Shire Seniors Festival program and the council’s weekly newsletter, Tweed Link.<\/p>\n

Tweed Shire Council’s director of sustainable communities and environment, Naomi Searle, said the festival’s success relies on the community’s active involvement.<\/p>\n

“In line with this year’s festival theme, Time to Shine, we really want to spotlight some of the incredible opportunities we have for Tweed seniors to connect with and enjoy,” Searle said.<\/p>\n

The Tweed Local Achievement Awards will be held during the festival, providing an opportunity for local Members of Parliament and communities to celebrate seniors who have significantly contributed to the community’s diversity, activity and inclusiveness. Past honours went to Veronese Burgess, recognised for her work with local elders, and Judy and Mark Eglington, who were honoured for their nearly 65 years of volunteer service with the NSW Rural Fire Service.<\/p>\n

The 2025 festival celebrating the contributions of older residents in the Tweed Shire runs from Monday, March 3 to Sunday, March 16.<\/p>\n
