BALLINA Shire Council will turn to the community in hopes of establishing a 10-year plan to improve and prioritise what people want done in the region.<\/p>\n

Part of the reason why they are making the call-out now is to assist the five new councillors who were recently voted in during the local elections.<\/p>\n

The Community Strategic plan will act as a blueprint to help deliver infrastructure, programs and services for the region.<\/p>\n

Mayor Sharon Cadwallader said businesses and groups are encouraged to fill out a survey which is now open.<\/p>\n

“This is your chance to tell us what matters,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Your input will help us prioritise what’s most important and ensure we’re delivering on the needs and aspirations of the people we serve,”<\/p>\n

A random survey of 500 residents has provided initial insights into community priorities.<\/p>\n

Council has partnered with the Advocate for Children and Young People to deliver engagement with young people.<\/p>\n

The draft plan will be exhibited for public comment in May.<\/p>\n

Some work council is currently doing include irrigation and turf improvement on the sport field at Williams Reserve in Lennox Head.<\/p>\n

The site will remain fenced over summer to allow the new turf to establish with the plan for it to be ready in time for winter sport next year.<\/p>\n

There has also been upgrades to the parking opposite the cultural centre.<\/p>\n
