{"id":104312,"date":"2025-01-18T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-01-17T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/?p=104312"},"modified":"2025-01-15T20:00:16","modified_gmt":"2025-01-15T09:00:16","slug":"local-film-a-netflix-hit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/news\/local-film-a-netflix-hit\/","title":{"rendered":"Local film a Netflix hit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A FILM set in and around Byron Bay has become a New Year&#8217;s Netflix hit, surging to the top three most-watched movies on the streaming service within days of its release.<\/p>\n<p>Take My Hand is based on the true love story of Zephyr Horses co-owners Claire Jensz and John Raftopoulos, who reunite more than two decades after they first met as teenagers when she returns home from her high-flying career in London with her three sons after she is diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and her husband is killed in a car accident.<\/p>\n<p>Former Neighbours actress Radha Mitchell, who has also starred in movies such as Rogue, Surrogates and Finding Neverland, plays the main character Laura in the film, while Adam Demos plays her love interest Michael.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/01\/AdamDemosandRadhaMit_18074.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Adam Demos and Radha Mitchell at Harvest Newrybar in a scene from Take My Hand. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Viewers will recognise many locations in the film, including the recently closed Harvest Newrybar, Baz &amp; Shaz Fruit &amp; Veg at Suffolk Park, Victoria&#8217;s at Ewingsdale manor and Bangalow&#8217;s main street.<\/p>\n<p>Other scenes in the film, which is produced by Bangalow-based Blake Northfield from Bronte Pictures, were also shot in Myocum, Federal, Knockrow, Billinudgel and Byron Bay.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/01\/RadhaMitchellshootin_21584.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Take My Hand filming in Bangalow.
