{"id":104601,"date":"2025-02-01T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-01-31T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/?p=104601"},"modified":"2025-01-29T20:12:56","modified_gmt":"2025-01-29T09:12:56","slug":"police-adventure-camp-leaves-a-lasting-legacy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/news\/police-adventure-camp-leaves-a-lasting-legacy\/","title":{"rendered":"Police adventure camp leaves a lasting legacy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FAR North Coast hosted a popular NSW Police Legacy adventure camp where youth learned valuable life skills while connecting as a group.<\/p>\n<p>It brings kids as young as eight together from across the state with the group converging at Lennox Head this year.<\/p>\n<p>It takes teenagers up to 18 years old with many attending multiple camps.<\/p>\n<p>Superintendent Scott Tanner and officers from the Richmond Police District took part through a series of workshops and information sessions.<\/p>\n<p>They were joined by officers and volunteers from forensics, traffic and highway patrol, marine rescue, and the crash investigation unit.<\/p>\n<p>There was plenty of time for other outdoor activities like archery, rock climbing and swimming at the Lake Ainsworth Sport and Recreation Centre.<\/p>\n<p>It is believed to be the first time an adventure camp has been held in the region.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/02\/474523139_1035103085_99613.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A forensics demonstration at the NSW Police Legacy adventure camp for kids. Photo: SUPPLIED.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This one was a great success,&#8221; police team leader Tim Sinclair said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They are always highly anticipated events, as our young legatees get a chance to reconnect with their friends from previous camps.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>NSW Police Legacy was established in 1987 to provide support to police families who have suffered the loss of a loved one.<\/p>\n<p>It continues to support children through grants, scholarships and other events during the year.<\/p>\n<p>The Lennox Head event coincided with the Parramatta Eels running a preseason training camp at the sport and recreation centre.<\/p>\n<p>The kids were able to meet and take photographs with the entire playing squad.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FAR North Coast hosted a popular NSW Police Legacy adventure camp where youth learned valuable life skills while connecting as a group.
