A NEW event will aim to empower and inspire the next generation of young women across the Northern Rivers.<\/p>\n

The Erelah event is the first of its kind in the region and has been set up by Lennox Head resident Tahnee English.<\/p>\n

It will be held at the Ballina Surf Club on Saturday, February 22 and is aimed at young women between the age of 16 and 21.<\/p>\n

There will be guest speakers from business and industry leaders to help connect the group.<\/p>\n

“It’s an information event with local speakers who are amazing women in their field,” Ms English said.<\/p>\n

“They will share their experiences in life and hopefully inspire independence in young women.”<\/p>\n

Ms English, 24, has worked locally in hospitality and marketing since she was a teenager.<\/p>\n

She hopes to take the Erelah movement on the road and set it up as an online platform to reach girls around the country.<\/p>\n

The Ballina event will be a chance for the girls to mingle and compare dreams and ideas to help shape their future.<\/p>\n

“I know it can be a hard age where young women are trying to find their place in the world,” Ms English said.<\/p>\n

“I want to create a safe space where they can find inspiration through each other.<\/p>\n

“This is just the beginning; I want to take it to other parts of Australia while I’m travelling for six months.<\/p>\n

“It’s something I’m really passionate about and the plan is to do a lot more here locally, too.”<\/p>\n

The event is free and will run for two hours from 9am.<\/p>\n
