{"id":105078,"date":"2025-02-21T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-20T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/?p=105078"},"modified":"2025-02-20T16:13:50","modified_gmt":"2025-02-20T05:13:50","slug":"at-tweed-regional-gallery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/lismoretimes\/living\/at-tweed-regional-gallery\/","title":{"rendered":"Autumn at Tweed Regional Gallery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TWEED Regional Gallery has launched its autumn program, opening three new exhibitions for 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibits will showcase works by Gadigal\/Sydney-based artist Minghua Xiang and two regional artists, Zion Levy Stewart and Dawn Walker.<\/p>\n<p>Xiang was the recipient of the Tweed Regional Gallery&#8217;s National Art School (NAS) Master of Fine Art (Painting) Residency Award in 2024, an ongoing partnership that supports emerging artists in celebration of Margaret Olley&#8217;s legacy as a NAS alumna and a supporter of rising creatives.<\/p>\n<p>His solo exhibition, Finding Harmony in Hope, results from his residency at the Nancy Fairfax Artist in Residence Studio last year.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/02\/art3_92613.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"591\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Birds and Bees 2023 by Zion Levy Stewart, Image: ZION LEVY STEWART<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tweed Regional Gallery director Ingrid Hedgcock said the event will showcase the nexus between artist, practice and lived experience.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are delighted to showcase the work of these immensely talented artists who explore elements of life and connection in their own unique ways,&#8221; Hedgcock said.<\/p>\n<p>The gallery&#8217;s regional artist showcase includes Stewart and Walker launching solo exhibitions at the opening event.<\/p>\n<p>Stewart is an artist with Up syndrome (generally called Down syndrome) and is known for his joyful personality and infectious zest for life, chronicled through his art.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/02\/art2_92605.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"749\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Swan Souvenir 2024 by Dawn Walker. His series of vibrant acrylic paintings, Life is Art, celebrates works that espouse the intrinsic link between the artist&#8217;s life, creative work and the symbiotic relationship between the two.<\/p>\n<p>Walker&#8217;s exhibition, Porcelain Places, presents a new body of work that builds upon her exhibited pieces in the gallery&#8217;s 2022 and 2024 WAA.
