YOUNG musicians in Ballina are gearing up for the annual Battle of the Bands as part of the second consecutive Ballina youth festival, Thrillfest, at the Lennox Head Cultural Centre on April 11 during NSW Youth Week.<\/p>\n
Eight bands will battle it out for prizes, including a professional recording session and industry mentorship from SAE. The winner will produce a radio-ready track – a crucial stepping stone for any young artist to take their music to the next level.<\/p>\n
Other prizes include a $1,000 Ticketek voucher to explore more live music and a $500 music store voucher to boost their equipment.<\/p>\n
Program Manager, Social Futures and Chair of Ballina Youth Network Kiara McBeath said Thrillfest’s Battle of the Bands wasn’t just about great music.<\/p>\n
“It’s an opportunity for young artists to learn, grow, and connect with others who share their passion,” McBeath said.<\/p>\n
“There are eight sensational bands that have been chosen, and they will be battling it out for the major prize, which could be a game-changer for the winners,” she said.<\/p>\n
Hosted by Ballina Youth Network, Thrillfest is supported by NSW Government Youth Week and Ballina Shire Council. The Ballina Youth Week Committee is a collaboration between Social Futures, LANDY Advisory, Mission Australia, headspace, VERTO, NSW Health and Uniting.<\/p>\n
Free food vans and non-alcoholic drinks are available, and music lovers can win lucky door prizes and join games and activities.<\/p>\n
“This year’s Youth Week theme celebrates every young person’s unique strength, and that’s exactly what Thrillfest is about – embracing individuality, encouraging creativity, and amplifying the voices of our next generation,” McBeath said.<\/p>\n
